THE SKY IS FALLING (LV Paintings)

The Sky is Falling is the name of the second solo exhibition by artist BBQtacos. The series consists of both large traditional canvas paintings and paintings constructed from Louis Vuitton handbags.

Each Louis Vuitton piece in the series is made from part of an authentic Louis Vuitton handbag. The handbags are completely deconstructed and all leather trimming and hardware are removed. Once the bag is deconstructed, it's next cut into squares and stretched over a wooden frame to create a canvas. After the canvas is complete, the artist hand cuts a stencil that reflects the outline of the final image and applies the outline to the canvas with spray paint. After the outline of the image dries on the canvas, the artist uses a tattoo gun and acrylic paint to apply all of the different colors. Finally, a pyrography pen (traditionally used in wood burning) is used to create the finer black outlines. Each piece takes roughly 30-40 hours to complete.

The artist may contact buyers who purchase pieces before the show and request that the pieces are loaned back to the artist for exhibition.  The artist will incur any shipping cost associated with loaning a piece for exhibition. Loaning a piece back to the artist for exhibition will be completely voluntary and no buyer will be forced to lend a piece back to the artist.
